How To Make a House a Home

Home: a place where one lives permanently; a place where one flourishes

I don't know about you, but if this is where I'm to dwell permanently, I want to be surrounded by things I love. Things that make me feel cozy, comfortable, and relaxed while dwelling in my personal space.

But how does one attain this feeling of home?  It all starts with the basics. This consists of all of the large items one finds in a home – a sofa, a bed, and a dining table. Once you've got that down, its embellishing time!

Being able to personalize your home is truly the most exciting part of the process. This is your chance to take that “basic" greige sofa you purchased from Pottery Barn, and introduce some flare by adding a couple cobalt blue, velvet, pillows. You can even spice things up by adding a bold black-&-white, striped throw! What are you going to do with that mid-century, modern, console you scored at your local flea market? Don't fret! It's nothing a few layered, mixed media, art pieces won't fix.

Feeling better about the place you call home? Well, don't invite the family over just yet... At least not until you've topped off your beautifully curated home with a custom hand-blown glass, scented candle. One that ignites the entire experience of being home, like Coastal Breeze by Laguna Candles.

Mmm... Smell that? Now you're ready for company!
